Effective communication – Employee

About the Course

Communication is about more than just exchanging information. It's about understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. Effective communication is also a two-way process. It’s not only how you convey your message so that it is received and understood in the way you intended, but also how you listen so that you can gain the full meaning of what’s being said to you – and make the other person feel heard and understood.

This course will allow all practitioners to gain an understanding of the many different facets of communication and how they impact on relationships in the workplace. It will also look at written communication and the importance of recording and reporting in the arena of childcare. For practitioners, it is important to understand that there can be barriers to communication with colleagues and managers. But using emotional intelligence can enhance connections, and verbal and non-verbal communication.

The learning outcomes for this course are as follows:

  • To gain an overview of communication

  • To understand interpersonal communication skills
